  1. Support UITestMethod in Windows Store apps

    Posted in response to: forum.ncrunch.net/yafpostsm5807UITestMethod-not-recognized.aspx.

Currently NCrunch ignores test methods with UITestMethod attribute which forces the test to run on the UI thread. This is required whenever the test needs to manipulate a UI element even if it's not a UI test in itself.

  2. Allow coverage marker colour to be defined for tests in progress

When tests execute the colour of the coverage markers darken. This is very useful for determining when affected tests have completed. However, the contrast is too subtle. It would be good if this could be changed in the 'Coverage Markers' configuration section. Either with an absolute colour or at least to have control over the percentage of darkening.

  3. Allow to temporarily ignore tests

When some tests are failing for a known reason (eg: When making structural changes, or when developing to an interface which is not yet completed), it would be nice if there is a possibility to tell the NCrunch Tests window to ignore certain tests for a defined period of time.

    For example:
    right-click test in the list
    > Ignore..
    > Ignore for 10min
    > Ignore for 1hr
    ....
    > Ignore for today

  4. Test pass/fail in Enhanced scroll bar or R# scroll margin.

The ability to have NCrunch show the code coverage and test pass/fail in the enhanced scroll bar from power productivity tools or Resharpers scroll bar. Or something similar. That way can tell if tests that are not visible on screen change. Of course could have the tests window up...

  5. Doubleclicking a failing test should jump to the failing line

If I doubleclick a test in the tests window the test, the file containing the test is opened in the IDE and the cursor jumps to the beginning of the test (Feature: Go to selected test").

It would be nice to have a "Go to selected test at failing line" feature that can be accessed via right click a failing test and even being able to set this as default action for double click.

  6. Remote server: Add some sort of performance index per server

I would like to have some index indicating how well the grid node server performs related to other servers.
For instance, if I run 2 grid servers on Azure and 2 on internal network, I want to know if it's worth adding more servers on Azure or on internal network (or if it helps out scaling Azure servers etc.).

One idea might be to have an average processing time on tests, and check when test has been executed on different servers is above or below the average execution time and calculate some sort of performance index from those measurements and…

  7. Add Setting to Allow NCrunch to Output to Standard Console

Add a way to force console output to appear in the regular 'Output' window rather than having to click the test itself and see the output.

This would be extremely useful so i view my Console.WriteLine output in real time in the Output window rather than having to wait until the test finishes and have to click on it to see the output. Also when my tests fail by throwing exceptions when using FluentAssertions, the code hangs on that line and anything i wrote to the console is lost when i stop debugging the test.

    Basically we just need to…

  8. Pause while nuget is installing or updating packages

NCRunch should pause while NuGet is installing or updating packages. There is no good reason to run tons of tests hogging most of the workstation performance while the solution is in an inconsistent and temporary state. Ncrunch running tests severely impacts the time it takes updates and installs to run.

PS: Resharper does this so I know it's possible :)

  9. Support for C/C++

It would be awsome if NCrunch could add support for C/C++ (or at least C++ CLI)

  10. Remote server: Conditionally run tests depending on which remote server they are running on.

    Scenario:
I have http integration tests which will report results in one way locally (due to IIS custom errors) and one way remotely. Thus for tests verifying the corretc "remote" response I would like them to run on a grid node that is not running on my local machine.

The current "Capabilities" is not attractive since that is set on grid node server itself and requires project-specific user configurations on each grid node server (which annoys the developers if they are running them on their dev machines if I will need to interrupt to tweak custom project settings).

    Possible solutions…

  11. Display test output in text window (on button click)

We use extensive logging information to analyze test failures.

Currently the test output is only displayed in a split window of the tests window. This makes reading and analyzing long test outputs (especially with long lines) rather difficult.

Therefore it would be nice to be able to display the test output with one button click in a separate (temporary) text window (similar to the Visual Studio test runner).

  12. Test Window Filter

I would like a filter in the test window that "show only tests that should runs automatically due to configured Engine Mode"

  13. Option to always start NCrunch disabled

I frequently switch between working copies/branches and since I use an engine mode which is automatically running tests I would to manually enable NCrunch on startup. This since the test suite is very heavy and I might want to open solution without immediately running all tests and/or I need some changes to e.g. "Custom environment variables" so tests are running correctly.

(Now I need to remember to disable NCrunch before closing project, which I most often do not remember. Also the now and then occasional vstudio crashes prevents me from setting this)

  14. Make NCrunch grid performance measurable

Provide some kind of programmatic access to performance indicators that are able to report the performance of a ncrunch grid, e.g. provide access to the duration of a full-end-to-end test. This would enable things like auto-scaling a grid.

  15. Create an SDK for third party framework support

Having up to date support for many different testing frameworks is no-doubt a lot of work. The result is that some frameworks are not supported to their full or simply not popular enough to justify adding support.

If an integration SDK was made available, it would allow third party frameworks (or interested users) to add support. This would allow for even niche frameworks the opportunity to be fully supported.

  16. Integrate updates for NCrunch into VS2013 Notifications

The update reminders at the moment come through the N icon on the bottom right. Visual Studio however already provides a separate Notifications hub.

  17. Make a license of NCrunch available for free to Open Source projects

I can't justify paying for NCrunch to volunteer on a FOSS project.

    ReSharper does this.
